You have probably heard me say this before but finding extremely original English guns in high condition is becoming near impossible. The good news is once in a while we get a gun in that is in fantastic original condition. This is one of those guns. Weighing less than some English 2' guns this gun balances extremely well with a very lively feeling between the hands. The case color is near 90%, the wood finish 90%, the barrel black 80%. This gun has its original case and hang tag which interestingly enough mentions that the gun was tested with American ammunition. Sold to an American? The original case shows considerable wear but the gun also comes with a Huey style oak & leather case with French fitted tools making an extremely attractive package and a seriously sound investment.

Known for its light rib-less shotguns Alex Martin of Glasgow Scotland did not actually build many with this feature. I have only seen a few over the years so was very pleased to find this one and to find it in such excellent condition. The gun is not actually rib-less but has a rib near the breech, another short section mid length, then again at the muzzle. Check out the pictures! The condition is high on this fine shotgun. Over 90% original blue, case hardening and wood finish. It has obviously not seen a lot of use. Even being so light and with such a long length of pull this little part of Scotland balances beautifully.

This vintage Westley has barrels with excellent wall thickness. It is perfectly tight on face. Being built between 1890 and 1891 we can ship direct as it is antique. If some one could use a 14 3/8' LOP we could remove the current pads and put a nice new 'Old English' or leather covered pad on the gun which would look very nice. Of the early Westley guns I like this model as it has the elegance of the early guns but features the Purdey double under bite. Guns before this often only had one or no bites on the under lug which was not near as strong as the design on this gun.

I have always admired the Fox Sterlingworth. This admiration comes from appreciation for good design and function and produced at a price the masses could afford. The Sterlingworth is a proven gun for reliability and getting the job done. Today in the vintage gun world I find they are still a great gun for the money. Yes, they can be heavy and have a bit more drop than we might like today, but they are a classic work horse with an excellent history. This is good solid example. The blue is a bit thinning and there is maybe 20% case hardening left. It is tight on face and field ready.

Very pretty wood (a restock) on this little Ideal with nice long barrels. This grade does not feature the rising bite featured on some higher grade Ideal guns but it does have the classic double under-bite with the true trigger plate action. I see some epoxy bedding material in places where the wood meets the action but this will not in anyway affect performance and allows us to sell this gun at a much reduced price. There is some light pitting in the bores which could be removed but if it were me I would take this light lady afield just as she is and enjoy her doing what she does best.

I have seen the scotch glasses all put down as everyone in the room wanted to hold and “ooh” and “ah” over it. This shotgun looks a bit of behemoth but in reality it is not at all. Your friends would be amazed on how well it is balanced, so well it feels much lighter and handy than you would ever guess. I love that it has three triggers. A very nice pre WWII combination gun by one of Germany's greatest makers. The 8x57JR ammunition is quite easy to get and not expensive to shoot. Quite a good amount of case color on this gun.

This gun has seen use but still has lots of life left in it. The shotgun bores have a little frosting but are basically bright and the rifle bore is bright with strong rifling. This is a very functional drilling at a price where one can afford to hunt with it.

Mar 04, 2010 Home Made Cylinder Loader Over the course of the forums here, there and at the Firing Line, discussion of building a cylinder loader has come up. Also put the cylinder center plate so it can be moved, that way when you are dealing with multiple revolvers it will work with all of them. You really just need 2 size bushings for that.
