Where do consumers get the disc version of the game? I have looked and looked, I don't know where to find it.

Yes, where is the game available by disc? I preordered a hard copy on Amazon and recieved a box with a download code in it. Ended up installing it that way, but I was hoping it would be a disc.

I ordered disk copy from GameStop - got download. Was told the disk version is not available in the US.
So you don't have to download again should your PC crash or you reload your PC, get a USB hard drive and back up your files like this:

I have my collectors edition in my hands right now, installed origin and tried activating my game i used the product code on the back of the Battle of Jakku early access page. It first came up with an error saying I couldn't activate it, then when i tried again it said that the code has already been used but still does not show up in my library.
Is there meant to be another page that has the code for the base game? there are no other codes in the disk box and it was all sealed up when i bought it :S

If installed from disc, does it still download a chunk of the game? And if so how large is that download?
  • 34 postsMember
If you installed the game by disc there is a small 130 MB update and thats all
  • 3 postsMember
I was told by EA that the only physical form of the game is some 'Standard Editions' and even those only have a disc with the 'client'. I assume that means Origin software so you can make an acct and download the game.

This does not work for me, after clicking the 'continue' button nothing happens, there are no setup processes running on. How do I install it from DVDs?
    Edit:
I had to remove Origin and install it by the DVD AutoRun. This comments by itself.

@ Braddock512 you are my Hero thx for post diden't now how to install the game thx to you its a piece of cake
  • 1 postsMember
I have been trying to install as Braddock suggested and I don't get an installation pop up screen - all I get is the Origin splash screen showing the three steps to installing. The first two seem to work fine but there is no install button.
On the origin ui, I can choose to go offline but that doesn't seem to change anything.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks

Got Star Wars Origins on disk but ends up downloading the game anyway. Cant figure out how to install from disk. Mailed EA support and got a mail that I had earned a noob badge! Great! It´s not a cheap game and the time spend on trying to install is waste of time and good mood. Tried Braddock512 suggestion but ended up downloading anyway - still is! Sucks.

Turn Origin completely off and load the disc.
Then go to the file directory for your DVD drive and search for an Autorun or install .exe file.
    Try that.
    Keep me posted.

Just wasted two hours - going round this merry go round. Why not just put the proper install instruction for the cd in with the game???

    I had the same issue.
I had inserted disc, entered in code, cancelled download. No option to install from disc, only continue and download from library.
    Solution..
    uninstall origin
    insert disk 1
    follow steps
It auto starts installing from disk after origin installs.
    cheers.

Could you read my recent post on balance issues and bring them over to the developer team thanks

Jeeesus! This Origin is sucks! Why EA doesn't learn from Steam! Why I cant install from disc? 'Go offline to install' Oh God! This is ridiculous! This was same with Battlefield3! I did buy the discs, but I HAVE TO download the game!!! Why??? Hey Origin what is your problem? Have You got too much gamer? U want to loose them? You are on right way to it! You turn me to the cracked versions..

I have tried to uninstall origin and then install the game, didn't work..
When i press 'continue' it just updates origin and doesn't do anything after it
Why give 4 discs to me if i can't do anything with them

I've tried all the above, thrice. Have bought paid for the full 4 DVD box set as where I live the internet is 384kbps and we cannot wait 5 days to download 50GB of data. It continues to try download the full game no matter what I do, clear cache, uninstall, go offline mode etc. I have one very disappointed son as this was a Christmas gift. Why on earth is there no override check box that asks 'Download or DVD install?' and then redirects the installer to the DVD's??? You are happy to sell your product all over the world but few of us (here in Africa) have fibre, or ADSL fast enough to download in 1 hour.
I strongly request a fix that works!

Could not let my son be disappointed so tried another method total of 4 hours of messing about..
Attempt # 1. Installed Origin Client off DVD. Registered and logged in. Redeemed Reg Code. Client started to download the game.. tried all the above forum advice.. nothing..
Attempt # 2. Retried all above, nothing.
Attempt # 3. Retried above with DVD 1/4 in the DVD bay and closed.
Attempt # 4: Important: 'Only insert the 1st DVD of four at the END of the following steps'
I manually downloaded the latest Origin Client Installer. Uninstalled the previous client. Installed the new client version. Uninstalled any partial Star Wars Battlefront and removed the APPDATA folders as suggested and emptied recycle bin. Rebooted PC. Launched Origin Client. Logged in. Redeem client code for SW BF still valid and stored in my EA/Origin Profile. Popped in the DVD 1/4. Client tried to install via internet. Right clicked the Battlefront Thumbnail and clicked Cancel Download. Clicked 'Origin' in top menu and went 'Offline'. Inserted DVD 1/4 into tray and closed it. Manually ran setup.exe off the root of the drive on DVD1/4 via Windows Explorer. Origin client begins installing vie DVD's!
I'm on disk 4 now and will report back what happened next, possibly a small 100+MB update?
ETA: 4th Disk Removed, clicked on Origin Client top menu 'Original' and went back online. SW BF then informed me of an update which I am now downloading, no indication of size of that update. With my slow internet here in Southern Africa it could take hours..

Right just wasted 8+ hours on this game. Finally got it installed off the DVD's. On launching the game it complained about my version of the video driver but said it could work despite some quality depreciation. (It didn't) I duly updated the driver via Lenovo's website (3rd party driver) to the correct version mentioned and the game still doesn't run and crashes. I have uninstalled it off my profile and am really p1$$3d off. I've since read on forums that EA doesn't allow transfer of the game redeem code to another profile so short of buying a whopping huge desktop or MSI/Alienware laptop at thousands of $$$ I have just lost half of my Christmas day and the cost of the game. This game should have done a checkup on my system and notified me of any incompatibilities or hardware deficiencies in driver or hardware spec (It's an i5-4200M CPU with 16GB RAM AND A 1TB HDD, Win 8.1 64Bit O/S.) BEFORE registering itself and taking the redeem code which I doubt I can reverse. Laptop meets the games' box minimum requirements. Game crashes despite saying it should be able to run despite the video driver version recommended by Origin/EA update (which I did). Second time an EA/Origin game has not worked on sufficient hardware.

It is a lot easier. To skip the download, after autorun, install origin, register (you must be at least 18), redeem code from the leaflet inside the package and then open the first dvd and double click setup.exe (no autorun!!!) after that you can install from DVD's instead of downloading it.
    Have a nice game

Sometimes this happens if you are not using a supported graphics card.

The best part about successfully installing the game is the heart-break of not ever being able to play it.

I see a lot of people angry at EA, and this is not the first time. EA has treated it's customers like this before..and not just once. The only way to stop EA from treating you like this is to stop buying their ****! I mean that in the full sense of the word..****. So stop buying from EA like I have. I haven't purchased anything from EA in months. Spend your money on something else.
The worst thing Lucas film could have done is given this franchise to EA. Look what they did with it.
You buy from EA you deserve what you get.

Disney sold the rights to EA, not Lucasarts. Nobody cares what you have to say, since you're not a customer.

Ummm.. How??? Have looked through first two disks and found the archived .z01 and .z02 files etc, but what program did you use to open/combine it. Is there something in 3rd/4th disk???

That's stupid ****, nobody wants to download what they already have on disk, it should be the default option. Stop **** up the most simple things just to rob some more dollars

Hi, I've downloaded the game via Origin and my installation folder takes 52GB instead of 27GB as official hardware requirements. Do you know why?? Thanks.
  • 1 postsMember
hi there. Ok, so look here.
we bought the game from a local game store. comes with 4 disks. inserted disk 1 and automatically downloaded origin. redeemed SWBF code and then pressed install. (all this while being connected to my WiFi)
started to install but was using my data.
now i just assume that as the game has 4 disks, you should be able to download the game without being connected to the net. i used up all my night time data trying to download the game (20 gigs) but as its a 54gig download, its sitting on about 30%.
please help. i want to be able to install the game while offline (not connected to the net) im afraid that if i delete what has already installed i will have to end up doing the whole thing again when i get the required data. please give me advise of what to do.
    PLEASE HELP
